He has appeared as tenor soloist in national television and radio broadcasts. He received his formal training and degree in vocal and opera performance at the Cleveland Institute & Conservatory of Music. and at Chicago Sinai Congregation’s in downtown Chicago. Seaton is a tenor soloist and section leader at the historic 4th Presbyterian Church of Chicago on Michigan Ave. For 8 years he has sat as a Governor on the National Board of Governors for AGMA, The American Guild of Musical Artists. He has a long association with the CSO Education and Community Outreach programs at the South Shore Cultural Center and the Symphony Center in Chicago. He is a professional member of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Chorus where he holds the position of Tenor Section Leader. Ms Crane is married to orchestral conductor, David Crane, has two adult children who graduated from Niles North, and a very musical pug named Jake.Ĭole Seaton, Lyric Tenor, is an active performer, singer, and educator. Conveniently, she is a resident of Skokie which enables students to have additional lessons if they so choose in preparation for an important audition. For 10 years she has been the Artistic Director of the Skokie Concert Choir. Earlier in her career, she was a member of Chicago Symphony Chorus and Lyric Opera of Chicago. Crane holds degrees in Choral Music Education and Voice Performance from The University of Michigan and Northwestern University. Ortmann also chose her to direct the musical preparation for the All State production of A Chorus Line. Crane has taught choirs at both Niles West and Niles North over her tenure and collaborated with Timothy Ortmann when District 219 mounted musical productions in the summer.

Crane teaches various styles of music, works on the crucial skill of sight reading, encourages students to perform on voice recitals, and has set up vocal master classes during her tenure at Niles North bringing in teachers from various Illinois universities as well as the operatic world. Her voice philosophy centers around developing a beautiful flowing tone, proper breathing to ensure an effortless vocal production, attention to and understanding of the music such as dynamics, phrasing, tempi, and instilling confidence in her singers. She brings great passion and exuberance to her studio teaching.

Candice Crane has taught voice in District 219 for 30 years because she thoroughly enjoys working with high school students.
